Adult
Basic Education Program (ABE)
The
Adult Basic Education program offers instruction in English
for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). There are three levels:
Level 1 (Beginner), Level 2 (Intermediate), and Level 3 (Advanced).
Students receive instruction in American English listening,
speaking, reading, and writing skills. Local, regional, and
national history and civics, as well as traditions, holidays,
and customs, are an integral part of our program. In our classes,
teachers and students also enjoy sharing their cultures and
histories, taking field trips to a variety of locations, and
inviting speakers from many community organizations.
The
ABE Program also has a Workplace Education program has a 5
year grant from the DOE. NSCAP partners with Brooksby Village
to provide ESOL and ABE classes to employees. Students also
learn workplace skills relevant to their jobs.
