About NSCAP

North Shore Community Action Programs, Inc. is the designated anti-poverty agency for the communities of Salem, Peabody, Beverly and Danvers. In addition, we serve 25 cities and towns on the North Shore. Established in 1965 under the Economic Opportunity Act, NSCAP’s mission is to help low-income people empower themselves as they move towards self-sufficiency and to motivate the larger community to be more responsive to the needs of low-income people.

For more information on NSCAP Programs or to make a tax deductible contribution call: (978) 531-0767 Ext. 106

In keeping with these primary goals, NSCAP has served as a catalyst for the creation of several community based organizations, including: The Essex County Community Organization, The Salem Harbor Community Development Corporation, The Salem Point Day Care Center, The North Shore Community Health Center and Help for Abused Women and Children.

As a private, non-profit organization, NSCAP has an eighteen member Board of Directors made up of representatives from the public, private and low-income sectors. Funded in part by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, Community Services Block Grant Program.
